Video Calling Basics: Zoom & FaceTime One-Page Guide

Getting Started:

  • Choose Your App:
    • Zoom: Available on all devices (smartphones, tablets, computers).
    • FaceTime: Exclusive to Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac).

Setting Up Zoom:

  1. Download App: Go to Zoom.us or your device's app store.
  2. Create an Account: Enter your email and create a secure password.
  3. Join a Meeting: Click the meeting link you received, or enter the provided Meeting ID and Passcode.

Setting Up FaceTime:

  1. Open FaceTime: Found on your Apple device's home screen.
  2. Sign In: Use your Apple ID and password.
  3. Make a Call: Enter the phone number, email address, or contact name and tap the camera icon.

Making Your First Call:

  • Ensure your camera and microphone are turned on.
  • Position yourself in good lighting, facing the camera.
  • Speak clearly and look at the screen to maintain eye contact.

Troubleshooting Common Issues:

  • No Video/Audio: Check if your camera and microphone are enabled in settings.
  • Poor Connection: Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or switch to a stronger network.
  • Can't Join Meeting: Confirm the meeting details (Meeting ID, link, or passcode).

  • Keep devices charged for uninterrupted calls.
